When I received the invite to Land’s End and Glamour‘s #getawaytour in Madison, I think I spent several hours dancing alone in my bedroom; then I set off to research how I can take this opportunity to interview one of the most respected stylists in the industry, Kendall Farr, and get some tips for my clients. On top of that, I got to meet Lands’ End’s PR goddess and the mind behind their genius ideas- Michele Casper.
Kendall Farr is not only extremely humble but she is willing to take on any fashion challenge. She has written 2 books about finding personal style, styles A-list celebrities for the red carpet and is a trend expert for the most popular magazines in the country (and worldwide). So when I asked her about women starting their fitness journey and increasing confidence, she took it on flawlessly.
While Kendall and I were chatting, she brought up some of the embarrassing things we don’t ask our dressing room associates about when we are shopping (if you know what I mean!)
1. Find something flattering, no matter your shape, to create those sexy curves we all want. Ruffles (in the right places) on a suit can create gorgeous lines and elongated limbs.
2. Don’t forget the coverup! Throwing on an old t-shirt may be easy, but so is a flattering cover up. A tie waist accentuates a smaller waist and looks fabulous.
3. Avoid knots on your coverups. They create unwanted bulk. Utilize twisting and rolling to keep your skirts on.
4. The swim tee. THE SWIM TEE! My life is changed forever. Both Michele and Kendall talked highly of this item, not to mention it is researched and approved by the Skin Cancer Foundation as a preventative SPF piece of clothing. It’s stylish, can we worn in the water or outside- and from a trainer’s perspective, the perfect outdoor bootcamp shirt that can be thrown on with jeans for brunch afterwards – insert shameless plug :-). All of the #getawaytour experts were wearing them and it looked amazing on all body shapes, and they’re trendy colors and patterns as well. This shirt is the sh*t.
